broken ties
I’m not the kind who curses other people (unlike some people I know), but I sincerely hope you get your just desserts.
This time round, I have completely lost my trust in you.
A leopard never changes its spots. And it’s so true.
If there’s one person I’ll never trust ever again in my entire life, it would be you.
And you can be rest assured it’ll stay this way.

fill in the blank
1) Over It by Katharine McPhee
2) Say It Right by Nelly Furtado
3) Give It To Me by Timbaland, Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado
4) Don’t Matter by Akon
5) The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani
6) Total Eclipse of the Heart by Westlife
7) Starz In Their Eyes by Just Jack
8) Cupid’s Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes
These songs are like super awesome la. There are a couple of others that are pretty nice as well, but they don’t make it to the list because they’ve been around for quite a while.
Anyway, I came across something quite funny… just thought I’d share it with ya. Haha. :)

nets it! not
You see, I had a balance of $10 in the card, and after dining at a particular restaurant, the bill came up $10.50. I tried to pay with the NETS Gift Card, but it was rejected as there were insufficient funds. I asked if there was a way if I could top up with cash, but the restaurant manager said that wasn’t possible.
How retarded is that?
Not only had I had to fork out $10.50 in cash, I had to look for another place where I could use up the money in the gift card, as I believe it was expiring soon. It was really frustrating.
In other news, this month has been a really busy month. But it’s been terribly fun, I must admit. Will write more soon. :)

the good ol' days
Which is why I found it totally amazing when I chanced upon Jules' blog and read her latest entry, which, amazingly, was about SNYO’s Aberdeen trip! Haha. How more coincidental can it get?
I certainly don’t remember as many things as you do, Jules, but certainly I haven’t forgotten about my mini-snack bar. Haha. It was super popular can? I remember people knocking on my room door wanting to buy food from me all the time. Hahaha.
Oh, and I so regretted not locking my door properly the last time before I went to bed. Haha.
By the way, I have a huge album containing all the photos from this amazing trip. We should all meet up one day (and that includes the trickster gang as well as the rest from the String Chamber octet) and reminisce the good ol’ days.
Man. It’s hard to believe 7 years have flown past just like that.
I miss you all so much too.

shitty times
Here I am replying emails, SMSes and answering request after request after request by clients and organizers, I feel like I’m taking over the job of my managers, especially recently.
On the other hand, other groups are having super long weekend chalets, enjoying the time of their lives. I’m not saying it’s wrong, but I just don’t like the idea of my ensemble working our asses off (even on weekends), where others are having the time of their lives slacking and having fun.
And we all get the same bloody pay.
Damn. Life is just so unfair.

raves and rants
As I finish typing the above paragraph, it’s playing the song Way Back In Love by Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore – another really bad song from a really silly movie, Music & Lyrics. I haven’t really caught it yet, and I don’t think I will. It looks really pathetic (I mean, hey, just look at the title), and I’ve read several poor reviews about it. I'm so not going to waste my money on such a dumb show.
I just don’t understand this - why is it that people have such bad taste for music? It’s really unbelievable. They should just keep playing songs like Over It by Katharine McPhee, The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani, or Don’t Matter by Akon. They make much more sense than singing about a stupid black parade. It’s really retarded.
My mum bought a Dell computer at the recent IT fair, which was chosen by my brother. It arrived yesterday, and just minutes ago, I used it for the first time. My goodness, I almost died while using it. Never in my life have I used a computer with such disgust.
Windows Vista must have been one of the stupidest programs around – why can’t people just stick to Windows XP? I hate it when you click some unknown icon and before you know it the computer just performs the operation – what happened to all the “Are you sure you want to (insert operation here)?” questions?
With a whole bunch of annoying pop-ups, sidebars, rubbish icons all over the place and what-nots throughout my entire 10-minute experience of using the new computer, I sure feel like taking a hammer and smashing this $2000 machine into pieces.
What a bloody waste of money it has been.

moments of reflection
I believe it happens once in a while. We fall, and try to pick ourselves up time and again. We fail, and, more often than not, we feel that we are able to handle the situation so we keep trying to solve the problems ourselves.
This weekend has been rather special. I thank God it’s finally over – it’s given me so much stress I can’t believe I’ve fallen ill over the weekend. Of course, life goes on. I’ve been looking forward to so many things, including my revamped lessons for my students starting this week, so I couldn’t have missed it.
Lots of things have happened since my last entry. I promise to write about them soon, as well as post some photos too, since many of you have requested, when I can find the time.
I just want to share something before I go. I was walking past the hawker centre after service on Saturday and I saw mei (not my real sister, but a close friend of mine) buying something from a stranger, who, apparently is dumb. I walked towards her and upon a closer look, I saw that he was selling some little gift-like item for $8 each. I didn’t really bother, neither did I want to disturb the friend who was having dinner with her, so I walked off.
Moments later, mei called, and I asked if she had bought the item from the man. She said yes. I replied, “Isn’t $8 expensive for such a small item like that?”
This was her reply: “I know it’s outrageous, but I’d rather get swindled once in a while than miss out helping someone in need.”
I was so touched. Those words from her mouth were stuck in my head as I made my way home that very evening.
This incident led me to ponder over a lot of other things over the weekend as well, which was what made it rather special. It has been rather stressful too, with a few other events happening at the same time. I thank God for pulling me through, and I’m hoping for the best. :)
I love you, mei, as a sister, and as a friend. To all my friends out there, I love you all too.
I think the sappy love songs I’ve been listening to for the past hour or so is getting to me, so I think I shall get some rest now.
I’ll write again soon. :)
P.S. The tagboard is back! Apologies for taking it down for such a long period of time. Links are updated too! :)

the extravaganza post-mortem
Sigh.
Anyway, concert’s over. I thought it was a pretty good effort, actually. Well, at least for most of us. Kudos to the entire team for putting in so much time and effort into this whole concert – that includes me of course, but credit goes to my every single person who helped to make this concert a success. And of course, thanks Sam for being such a fantastic stand partner. :)
I had soooo much fun tonight. Thanks guys for making my day. Love you all to bits. :)
It’s Dinner & Dance tomorrow night. I hope it’ll be fun. :)
-once upon a time i was falling in love, but now i'm only falling apart.

an event-filled weekend
Well, unfortunately, this weekend also happens to be the very weekend of the combined concert, as well as my company’s Dinner & Dance. Not that I’m not looking forward to them, but well, it leaves me with little time for anything else.
By the way if you haven’t already noticed, I did not promote this concert in any way, simply because the standard is so low, I don’t want you wasting your money listening to such trash. Never in my life have I performed with such immature and inexperienced musicians who can’t play, or even count for nuts. Nevertheless if you want to come, by all means, please do. I just hope you don’t end up sleeping 5 minutes into the concert.
Anyway, to you out there, the day has finally come. I’ve put in so much effort into this amidst the hundreds of things I have to do daily, I don’t believe it myself. It’s about time you made me proud, just like what others have done before.
I know you can do it. I wish you all the best.

a classical extra-vaganza
I used to lead the ACS(I) CO, and I was concertmaster for about 3 years, which was quite a feat, really. I totally loved my orchestra, and the great music we made every week. I miss those times. It’s a good thing the people in my batch still make an effort to meet up at least once a year. :)
Anyway, I find it amusing that I actually am looking forward to the combined concert rehearsal every single evening this week, although it’s taking up almost the entire week. Even though it’s relatively tiring and somewhat boring at times, the people around my desk never fail to brighten up each and every rehearsal. There always seems to be a party going on in 2nd violins, especially around my desk. Sam and I have been happily defacing our scores by writing each other’s names all over them, and I’m pretty sure we have vandalized most of the pages in our scores with lots of rubbish words and pictures all over the place. People from other desks all over (left, right, front) often peer over to look at our nonsense, before bursting into laughter, which, in most cases, can get pretty much uncontrollable.
Then again, it’s damn fun la. I couldn’t have made a better choice than putting Sam next to me in the same desk when I was sketching out the seating plan. People like Amelia, Yan Han and Wen are having the time of our lives laughing at the most stupid things the both of us keep coming up with.
Then of course, apart from this, there are eye candies all around, so at least that gives me something to look forward to every rehearsal. :)
By the way, Dvorak’s 9th Symphony is a totally brilliant piece. I remember performing it several years back, and it totally brings back lots of memories of my youth orchestra days. I often picture myself sitting in the orchestra together with my mates, and I can almost recall each and every player in the woodwinds and brass sections. It's interesting to know that I can still remember so many of my friends. Anyway, the beginning of the 2nd movement of the symphony is totally heart-wrenching – I have to admit I'm totally in love with it. Finzi’s Clarinet Concerto is equally awesome too. The frequent changing of time-signatures is just so brilliant. I’m so gonna flood my MP3 player with these few pieces as soon as I get my hands on them.
Well, I can’t wait for everything to be over, actually. These few weeks have been totally crazy and I’ve been up to my neck with work. There’s just so many things to do in and out of camp, it’s unbelievable.
-When I close my eyes, all I think of is you.
