A Quick Update
The number of things that happen every week are truly amazing. There are just so many things to do, so many events to attend, and so many concerts and shows to perform, including occasional gigs, which I’m not really suppose to play for. I’ve been running around like a zombie for the past few weeks, since it’s been quite a while since I last had a real good sleep.
Caught a number of pretty good movie previews recently, including Pink Panther and Nanny McPhee. A Season Of Love and I Not Stupid Too were rather disappointing. Will be missing out on Big Momma’s House 2 and Date Movie next week because of the company’s Dinner & Dance at Club Momo, which I’m trying to skip, actually. Well, at least I’ll get to watch Underworld Evolution on Wednesday. Many thanks to Ivan who has been helping me to call and go online to win tickets to movie previews, since I haven’t really had the time to do so.
It was nice to be back at Victoria Concert Hall for a performance a few days ago. It really brings back memories of the time I was in SNYO. It used to be my second home, since I was always there half the time. Everything still remains – the vending machines, the toilets, the changing rooms, the lighting, the seats – everything. I don’t know why but everything I walk into VCH, it just reminds me of my past. I like the nostalgic feeling though. It’s strange, but really sweet.
I’ve been busy preparing my students for their violin examinations, preparing my university applications, helping out with MDC auditions, meeting up with so many people, preparing for shows, attending gig rehearsals, and the list just goes on. With the help of some friends, I managed to win a total of 10 tickets to Franz Ferdinand’s concert, which turned out to be quite a blast, although I didn’t quite enjoy it due to my liking of music. Fun-O-Rama this year was pretty good too. Went with a group of friends, only to bump into so many other people, including a few old buddies whom I haven’t met in a long time.
Our ensemble performed for Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean twice this week, once at the official dinner of the Asian Aerospace 2006 held at Oriental Camp, and the other, at Signal’s 40th Anniversary at Stagmont Camp. He even came up to us to shake our hands during the first performance.
Yesterday was a crazy day. Had to wake up at 5am to fetch my sister and her friend to Holland Village, then rushed down to camp by 7.30am to help with the recruits' auditions. Headed down to Shaw Tower for a movie preview at 11am (yes it's really strange to have a movie preview on an early Saturday morning), before having lunch with my friends at Swensens at Suntec City. Rushed down to Chinese Garden to teach, before heading down to Ministry of Sound at River Valley Road to attend another event by youth.sg. I couldn't even squeeze in time to attend service at church. Felt quite bad because I'm sure no one did the lighting for yesterday's service. The last event of the day was the best, though, since we got to see lots of babes, including a number of local celebrities.
Well, so many other things have happened this month, I don’t really know what to write. I don’t really want to go into detail about everything because it’ll take me forever to do so. Lots of things are happening in camp now and I’m happy that the fact that, well, most people are nice. Other than that, I won’t really want to mention about the handful of idiots that lurk around all the time. I've got lots of stories but I guess I won't really put them up here. I'll tell you personally if you really want to know. Well, I just have to say that people in the arts are really strange people. Trust me. They really are.

Happy CNY
Yes, Happy Chinese New Year to one and all.
It’s been quite a while since I like updated, as I’ve been really busy of late. Hope everyone had a fantastic CNY. Well at least I did. This year’s celebrations were really great, and I received a whole bunch of additional red packets from my relatives, as my birthday present. The visit to Willie’s house with my family was really fun too. :)
Of course, not forgetting the Singapore River Hong Bao 2006 held at the Esplanade Park last week, and the Chingay celebrations yesterday. Both events were such a blast!
The Fusion Ensemble held a performance at the Esplanade on the 3rd day of CNY, and it was a relatively good concert, with an unexpectedly huge turnout. It was my first fusion performance, and I thought it was pretty nice. The Chamber Ensemble has also been having non-stop shows since 2 weeks ago, at hotels, schools, and other units and camps. CE’s shows are really fun, especially when we try out classical pieces instead of the usual pop songs that we’re supposed to play. Haha. School shows are really fun though. The students are really cute. Anyway, it’s heartening to know that the response from all our clients have been totally positive so far, and we’ve received excellent feedback from all our shows. :)
Because I’ve been so busy with so many shows, I didn’t manage to go for the previews of I Not Stupid Too, which was held on 24th and 25th of January. I won a total of 28 tickets (from several sources) to both previews, and I couldn’t make it on any of the days. It was unfortunate, of course, but I managed to successfully give the tickets away to my family and friends, and none of the tickets went to waste.
In other news, I went for a preview of Fun with Dick and Jane a couple of days ago, and just this afternoon, I went for Broadway Beng, a local production, at the DBS Arts Centre. Managed to win a total of 8 tickets from Power 98, and Ivan, Eugene, Willie, Arif, Andrew and a few of their friends came for the show. It was absolutely hilarious! All of us spent 1 and a half hours laughing non-stop. Half the show was in hokkien, which made the whole show even funnier. Haha.
Speaking of prizes, I’ve won a Motorola handphone, and a pair of Franz Ferdinand tickets! Won both prizes on the same day somemore. I can’t believe it myself. I wonder what model the Motorola phone will be. I hope it’s something nice. :)
Okay, I won’t really go into all my other happenings, otherwise I’ll never be able to wrap up my entry. I’m back to teaching, by the way, and with more students now, I’m more busy than ever. Well, at least I’m happy with what I’m doing in my life. :)
I know I haven’t updated my photos since October last year. I’ve got tons of albums waiting to be uploaded and I hope to find some time to put them up for viewing soon.
I’m on half day leave tomorrow! Can’t wait. :)
